Active military personnel station out-of-state can renew online or by mail and certify the vehicle is out-of-state. When the vehicle returns to Texas, you must obtain an emissions inspection within 3-days, and pay the state’s portion of the inspection fee at the county tax office.
Effective September 21, 2026, Travis County residents may present a valid passing emissions vehicle inspection report from another attainment (emission) county.
