Your mailed payment is on time if postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before 11:59 p.m., Jan. 31. A commercial postal meter imprint is not a valid U.S. Postal Service postmark. If you plan to mail your payment on Jan. 31, check with your postal service office to ensure your envelope will receive that day's postmark. (Many U.S. Post Offices give a next day postmark to mail received after noon.)
