Paying using your bank's online bill payment service
Your bank’s bill payment may be sent directly to our office as a check. This form of payment does not require any additional fees.
You must be diligent with your bank or credit union to make sure they pay on time. Texas law requires us to mark your account “paid” on the date the payment is received by our office (not the date you authorized the financial institution to make the withdrawal). If your bank is using the U.S. Postal Service, the envelope coming to our office needs to show a postmark stamp of no later than 11:59 p.m Central Standard Time, January 31, so you are not charged penalty and interest.
Check to see if your bank postmarks all check payments with the U.S. Postal Service.
Note: Read your bank's "Terms of Service" carefully to determine the policies related to tax payments.
Warning: As required by law, tax payments arriving without a postmark are marked as paid on the date payment is received, and the payment is subject to penalties and interest. Check to see if your bank postmarks all check payments with the U.S. Postal Service.
