Requirements
- Acceptable bids must meet the minimum bid (or higher) listed for the property
- The minimum bid is the lesser of two amounts: The total amount owed to the county (taxes, penalties, interests, and costs) or the property’s market value (usually determined by the Travis Central Appraisal District)
- A completed Resale Bid Submission Form(Forma Para Someter Una Propuesta en la Reventa de Propiedades del Condado de Travis)
- A copy of the bidder's valid, government-issued photo identification (such as driver’s license, passport, etc.)
- Cashier's check or money order with your bid amount paid to Travis County Tax Office
When submitting bids on more than one property, each bid and the required documents must be in a separate envelope.
Bidding
Preparing each bid
- Research properties on the resale list. (Download the resale list.)
- Download and complete the Resale Bid Submission Form (Forma para Someter una Propuesta en la Reventa de Propiedades). Create hyperlink to form. Clearly indicate the name that will appear on the tax resale deed.
- Place the completed form, a copy of the bidder's valid, government-issued photo identification and payment in a sealed envelope with the words “TAX RESALE BID” written in the lower left-hand corner.
- Deliver by mail or in person.
We do not accept cash, credit/debit cards or personal checks for bids.
We secure the bid payments in a bank vault. We will cash and deposit your payment the same day the County Commissioners Court approves your bid. You will receive a receipt for your payment within 10 business days of the deposit.
Bid approval is at the sole discretion of the County Commissioners Court. For rejected bids, we mail back your payment.
