FirstVote1 A

Welcome to First Vote!, a collaboration of the Travis County voter registration and election divisions and the Austin-area League of Women Voters.

First Vote! Program

The First Vote! program is available free of charge to high schools across the county and organizations with 20 or more 17- to 18-year old students.

The First Vote! team teaches junior and senior high school students about the importance of voter registration and voting and empowers them with knowledge on how to seek out non-partisan information on candidates and issues. Team members also register eligible students to vote.

To hold the attention of teens, the program moves fast, taking up only 30 minutes from start to finish. However, First Vote! team members are available to stay after the formal presentation to answer questions and register students to vote.

Mock Elections

Mock elections are a great way to teach students about the voting process and turn them into future voters! For information about how to conduct a mock election at your school, contact us. Check out the 2016 Mock Presidential Election for more ideas.
