Travis County Tax Office

January 29, 2024

Voter registration ends Monday, Feb. 5 for those wanting to vote or needing to change their address for the March primary election.

Citizens can register to vote by:

  • Mailing a voter registration application with a postmark no later than Feb. 5, 2024.
  • Visiting any of the six Travis County Tax Office locations.
  • Filling out the voter registration application at VoteTexas.gov, printing it out, and mailing it or dropping it off at any Travis County Tax Office.

Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Bruce Elfant advises not to mail your voter registration application on Monday. “Many post offices will place a next-day postmark on your envelope, which will bar you from voting in the March primary. The best way to ensure your application is on time is to hand-cancel it at the post office or drop it off at the tax office,” he said.

Registered voters can update their name or address online if they moved within Texas using the Texas Secretary of State Voter Name and Address Changes system.
“It is very common for Texans to move within the state and forget to update their voter registration,” Elfant said. “You can update your address online and if you do it before the deadline, you will be able to vote in the precinct where you live.”

The main tax office at 2433 Ridgepoint Drive will offer voter registration until the midnight cutoff on Monday.

The tax office regularly offers voter registration Monday through Friday at the following tax office locations:

  • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nelda Wells Spears Building, 2433 Ridgepoint Dive.
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Pflugerville office, 15822 Foothill Farms Loop.
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Northwest Austin office, 8110 N FM 620 Road.
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Southeast Austin office, 4011 McKinney Falls Parkway.
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Southwest Austin office, 8656 W. Highway 71, Building B.
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., East Austin drive-thru, 4705 Heflin Lane.

Early voting for the March 5 primary election begins Tuesday, Feb. 20. For more information, visit VoteTravis.com.
