Bruce Elfant is your Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar. He was elected in 2012.


The mission of the Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office is to:

  • Assess, collect and distribute property taxes
  • Collect defendant's court fines and fees for County Courts at Law and JP Courts
  • Register and title motor vehicles
  • Register eligible citizens to vote

We are committed to carrying out these responsibilities while providing consistently outstanding customer service through a process of continuous evaluation and improvement of the ways in which we conduct business.

Daily Operations:

Every day the Travis County Tax Office

  • Serves an average of 800 visitors in our five offices
  • Assists 250 customers at our drive-throughs
  • Answers 1,200 phone calls
  • Receives an average of 595 voter registration applications

Every year the Travis County Tax Office

  • Collects $3 billion in taxes and fees for 112 jurisdictions
  • Registers over 800,000 vehicles
  • Completes 250,000 vehicle title transfers and audits another 130,000
  • Collects $256 million for motor vehicle-related services
  • Registers over 650,000 voters
  • Supports elections for 201 entities
  • Collects $4.3 million in court fees and fines for JP and County Courts at Law
